Historic flooding leaves history museum badly damaged

It took four years to renovate and expand, and sadly, only four days until another flood left it devastated.

The South Park Historical Society’s Museum on Pleasant Street sustained $35,000 worth of damage due to the flooding that occurred on June 20. The Historical Society celebrated it’s grand reopening only four days earlier.

Volunteers spent hundreds of hours over the past several years renovating the museum and working to add new features to further celebrate and conserve the rich history and tradition of South Park Township. The museum is closed to the public until further notice.
